Create an 'illuminating object' to provide a special type of lighting

Solution

I created a wayfinding light for use in the middle of the night. This is a time when you want a tiny amount of light in order to navigate, but not so much that you'll wake up other people in the house. 

With the help of an electrical engineering friend, I built a circuit that slowly turned on the light. This is a feature you'd want for a light that you're using in the middle of the night. The light used a magnet embedded in the base, and a magnetic switch in the flashlight to turn on automatically when you picked up the light.

I also created a rendering for what a final product might look like.
